Join us to honor the life of Billy Gordon, an unhoused Temple community member who was killed during a mental health call with Temple Police in October 2024. This event is not just about remembrance—it's about building something new.

The Work We're Doing Together

We recognize that reform is not enough. True safety comes from communities that care for one another. That's why we are coming together to build parallel systems—alternatives to calling the police during mental health crises.

This is community organizing in action. We are creating the networks, resources, and mutual aid structures that can keep our neighbors safe—without relying on systems that too often cause harm.

Featured Speaker: Greg Stoker

Green Party candidate for U.S. House, TX-31, former U.S. Army Ranger, and combat veteran. Stoker will speak on government transparency, veteran concerns, and the need to shift power back to communities.

Community Conversations

Local advocates and organizers will lead discussions on:

• The lasting impact of trauma on communities

• Humanizing unhoused neighbors and restoring dignity

• Mental health challenges facing veterans and how communities can fill the gaps

• Demanding real transparency from local government—and building power to enforce it

Free Hands-On Training

Empower yourself with practical skills for community safety and accountability:

• Stop the Bleed – Learn life-saving hemorrhage control techniques, including wound packing and tourniquet application.

• Gun Safety Training – DPS-certified instruction on safe handling and Texas law.

• FOIA Training – Learn how to file public records requests to demand transparency from local government and police.

• Voter Registration – Register to vote and make your voice heard.

• Children's Corner with arts and crafts

• Book Drive sponsored by Blackbird Books and Spirits – all books donated to the local free library

We don't wait for systems to change—we create the care networks we need. Every conversation, every training, every connection made here is a step toward a community that doesn't have to call law enforcement in a crisis because it already shows up for its own.

The organizing doesn't stop when the fair ends. Join us afterward at Neighbors on 7th starting at 6:30 PM for an informal social hour. Connect deeper with fellow organizers, share ideas, and help plan our next steps together.
